A Letter from Ms. Triassi

Dear Starline Families,

This has been an amazing second year for me at Starline! I appreciate each person’s support and the team effort from families, community members, staff, and students.

Families
Starline families have logged in many hours of volunteer time. PTA events have been fun and enjoyed by many. The WATCH D.O.G.S. have started to participate on campus during lunch and recess. Both students and staff have appreciated their time and dedication to support safety.

Community Members
Students have enjoyed writing letters to and reading with Pet Partner dogs each week. Neighborhood “snowbirds” have do-nated money to Starline because they love hearing the children laughing and playing during recess! Their kindness is much appreciated. Calvary Baptist planted new trees and painted classroom doors and stairs in October. The Community Health Foundation conducts groups for children on Fridays which support their social-emotional needs.

Staff
We wish Mrs. Felish well as she completes her last year at Starline and moves into retirement. Her presence will be greatly missed. She has taught many years at Starline. We already have her on the list to come back as a Starblazer Volunteer. Mr. Cornell came to help Starline with a 5th grade opening. He will be officially retiring at the end of the school year. We thank Mr. Cornell for instilling in his students a love of reading. Mrs. Smith will be moving from fourth to second grade. She will be filling Mrs. Felish’s spot. Mrs Olson, a tremendous substitute teacher and Starline parent, will be joining our third grade team. Ms. Donoghue will be transitioning to Nautilus Elementary School. We wish her well! Mrs. Petersen and Mrs. Cornell will be moving back to fourth grade and Mrs. Painton will be moving up to fifth grade. We have hired a Lake Havasu High School graduate, Ms. Deitch, to join our fifth grade team. She is a Northern Arizona University graduate and student taught at Ja-maica Elementary. Ms. Wheeler will be moving into the gifted class. The general education 6th grade team will be Mrs. Hagest, Mrs. Larson, and Mrs. Rockwell. We have a 6th grade position that I hope to fill soon. We will have some new support staff in the 2019-2020 school year. Exciting new adventures in our future as Starblazers. New carpet and a state of the art surveillance system will be installed over the summer!

Students
We wish our 2019 sixth grade students well as they finish their elementary education and transition into middle school. This year we had a Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, PTA Reflections, Future Problem Solvers, Millionaire Readers, Academic Awards, Math Olympics, Science Olympics, many hours dedicated to after school clubs: NEHS, Student Council, STEM, Patriotic, Art, KC, Yearbook and more. We are so proud of the many accomplishments of our students!
Thank you for your support and kindness throughout the year. I know in order to be effective as a school it takes a village! I appreciate the Site-Based Council members that support us formulating a school-wide action plan that will help us to move forward in a positive direction during the 2019-2020 school year. The School Board has approved each Thursday being an Early Release Day during next school year in order for staff to have time for professional development and effective, inten-tional collaborative planning.

Miss Triassi,
Starline Principal
